As an educational leader and innovator, it is the largest institution of its kind in Canada; the Conservatory is unique in the breadth and scope of its programming.About the RoleThe Faculty of Continuing Education, Conservatory, invites applications for Instructor, Speech Arts and Drama.The successful candidate will offer comprehensive speech arts and drama training to students in Speech Arts and Drama group classes and / or private lessons.The MRU Conservatory Speech Arts and Drama curriculum includes voice and speech development, interpretation and performance of literature, acting, public speaking, storytelling, mime, creative drama and choral speaking with classes and private lessons offered for children ages 4 and up. The instructor will play an active role in designing lessons, selecting repertoire and recruiting and retaining students. The instructor will work collaboratively with the speech arts and drama coordinator to foster the growth of the program.The position ideally will be on-going and renewed annually which usually runs September through June and involves 2 terms.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will offer comprehensive speech arts and drama training to children and youth in Speech Arts and Drama group classes and / or private lessons. The instructor will deliver instruction based on the curriculum of the Speech and Drama program and be responsible for preparation of lessons and activities.Group-class instruction in Conservatory Speech and Drama classes including Act Up Speak Out, Speechworks, and Speak Up Make Your Point. These classes target particular age groups and areas of instruction including public speaking and storytelling, creative drama and choral speech.Private instruction in speech arts for students aged 5 and above.The instructor will play an active role in designing lessons, selecting repertoire and recruiting and retaining students. The successful candidate will be energetic, motivated, and passionate about children and childhood development through the spoken arts. The instructor will work collaboratively with the speech arts and drama coordinator to foster the growth of the program.Qualifications
