Job description: Data Analyst Consultant – Public Sector – Remote (Occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton, AB)Project OverviewOn behalf of the Government of Alberta, Brainhunter Systems Ltd. is seeking experienced Data Analyst Consultants for an upcoming long term contract opportunity.
The GoA has embarked on transforming the work of government to deliver simpler, more efficient, and better services for the citizens of Alberta, thereby ensuring that the needs of Albertans are effectively met in the digital age. As part of this role, the Province is expanding the GoA’s digital delivery of services with the view of simplifying and providing better user experiences with interactions with the GoA. The Digital Design and Delivery Division (“3D”), formerly the Digital Innovation Office (“DIO”), is the Province’s new centre for digital delivery. It was established to maximize capability and confidence in modern digital practice by ensuring service quality and value through standards and controls. This includes utilizing human-centred design approaches together with agile methodology and modern data practices.The Province requires multiple Data Analysts to work with 3D on service innovation, program review and digital transformation projects across the GoA. The Data Analyst will work as part of cross-functional program review or product delivery teams. These teams, led by GoA product owners and 3D work collaboratively and collectively participate in a full range of activities including: field research, backlog definition and refinement, and sprint planning and execution. Digital transformation projects review the current state of services, identify future opportunities, and then deliver new services that are efficient, effective and affordable.We are seeking a talented and versatile Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data engineering practices, combined with the analytical skills necessary to derive actionable insights from data. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and architectures, as well as performing detailed data analysis to support business decisions.ResponsibilitiesData Analytics:

• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations using BI tools (e.g., Power BI,
• SaaS VA).
• Conduct statistical analysis and modeling to support business strategies.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise
• manner.
• Use SQL and other query languages to extract and manipulate data from various sources.
• Create plans and strategies to integrate data models and improve service delivery.
• Develop and share service metrics and performance dashboards.?
• Facilitate the frequent delivery of services and deliverables to ensure the successful
• creation of the target state while mentoring Agile Teams to grow their analytics fluency.
• Support corporate priorities with data-driven evidence using analytics, visualizations, and
• data modeling.

Data Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and store large
• volumes of data both on-premises (SSIS etc.) and in the cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and availability for analytical and operational use.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to
• understand data requirements and implement solutions.?
• Optimize and improve existing data workflows and ETL processes.
• Implement data governance and security best practices.
• Manage data storage solutions, such as data lakes and data warehouses.
• A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large,
• disconnected datasets.
• Deploy data solutions in the cloud and with database tools (SQL, NoSQL).
