Job description: Posted on: May 20, 2025Posted by: Strathcona CountySummaryThe Family Resource Network Program Support Worker is a part of Strathcona County’s Family and Community Services (FCS) department that implements prevention and early intervention social supports programs in response to community social challenges and opportunities.This position provides assistance in the planning, organizing and implementation of a blended service continuum of supports, resources, programs and community engagement activities for young children, their parents (including parents to be), caregivers, community, and service providers.Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance to the Child and Family Wellbeing branch in the planning and implementation of community-based programs and supports for children, youth, and adults
• Promote social inclusion, sense of belonging, and participatory engagement in programs
• Respond to inquiries about program activities and community information; ensure that all participants and walk-ins receive the required services in a timely manner and are treated in a respectful and sensitive way while maintaining confidentiality
• Provide accurate information to participants and general inquiries about FCS programs and community resources; using discretion and judgement regarding the flow of information, evaluating incoming issues requiring immediate attention and directing individuals to appropriate resources or staff
• Provide prep support of food related programs i.e. WECAN, Food Pantry, kitchen-based programs etc.
• Organize supplies, materials and resources in storage areas and take the lead in managing program supply inventory
• Prepare, clean and organize program materials, resources, and kits/bins are per staff requests
• Assist with general office duties such as welcoming participants, wayfinding, answering phones and supporting data entry
• Provide support for program set-up in a number of indoor and outdoor locations, lifting and maneuvering materials, equipment and furniture

RequirementsQualifications and Skills:

• Minimum High School diploma; post-secondary education in a human service field is an asset; related early childhood development field is preferred
• Experience working with young children and families
• Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating programs is an asset
• Intermediate First Aid Certification is an asset
• Food safety and handling certification is an asset
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others in a manner that facilitates decision making and collaboration
• Ability to develop collaborative relationships with parents, caregivers, colleagues, community stakeholders and service providers
• General understanding of brain science, normative child development, adverse early childhood experiences (ACES), ecological perspectives and importance of play in growth and development
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and equally confident in working within a team
• Broad-based knowledge of community resources
• Skilled with using Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive)

Conditions of Employment:

• Submission of Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including daytime, evenings and weekends
• Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties including lifting 20lbs

Expected salary: $45099.6 – 56383.6 per year
